Members of the Jamestown Volunteer Fire Department have been hosting an event every year prior to the St. Patrick’s Day Parade. For the past 17 years this event has grown from a small four-person lunch, to what was witnessed last year as several hundred people. The event was coined “The Dick Wing Memorial Pre-St. Patrick’s Day Bash and it honors deceased JFD members who impacted not only our organization, but us as individuals through their service, friendship and mentoring. Last year we turned it into "Going Green for Eileen" to benefit the wife and mother of Steve Teixeira’s wife and Kyle and Christians mom to benefit their family during Eileen’s cancer battle. This year we have once again stepped up to help a fellow Islander. Milton Javery is a self-employed musician, and a volunteer firefighter with the Jamestown Fire Department. Milt has been out of work for several months due to a battle with cancer. He is struggling financially and could really use some help to get back on his feet. Our event this year titled “Music for Milt”, will be Friday March 16th, 2018 at the Narragansett Café, Jamestown. The event kicks off at 12, with a “cash” light lunch menu until 5pm. A buffet style dinner will be provided after 5pm, which is included in the ticket price. We are also working on a return of the RI Firefighters Pipe and Drum band to play earlier in the night. The evening’s entertainment will be provided by RI Monthly’s “Best Band, Those Guys”. Tickets for the event are 20.00, and proceeds will go directly to Milt to help offset medical costs.
